About Maz

It is my belief as a counsellor that we all have the power within us to heal ourselves.  There are, however, times when we need a bit more guidance to do that and as an accredited counsellor with the National Counselling Society that’s what I aim to do.  As a holistic practitioner I have a strong belief in the link between mind-body-spirit and how they impact on our mental health so therapy with me would look at all areas of your well-being.

I have trained in a variety of therapeutic approaches including Humanistic, Psychodynamic, Cognitive Behavioural, Rational Emotive Behaviour, Transactional Analysis and Gestalt Therapy and have also completed training in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction and Dialectic Behavioural Therapy.  This means that I am able to tailor my approach to suit your needs and help you achieve your therapeutic goals. That said, the main focus of my work is the relationship I have with you, my clients, regardless of your age.  As far as I am concerned you are the expert on you and I will let you guide and direct our work, with me alongside you as an ally for a little extra support when you need it.

As well as being an accredited adult counsellor and hypnotherapist I am also a qualified children's counsellor.  I have extensive experience working with children and young people within a school setting, in my private practice, on-line and when appropriate at their place of residence.  When working with children I use a range of techniques including play therapy, role play, sand play, art and story telling

Aside from face to face therapy,  I offer online and telephone counselling.  For many clients this offers greater flexibility and can, for some, feel like an easier entry into the world of therapy.  I also provide 'Walk & Talk' therapy for clients who feel more comfortable talking while being active.  This is a service I currently provide in Lowndes Park - Chesham and Regent's Park - Central London, however, if there is another location you feel would work better for you, we can discuss this together.

Outside my counselling work I present talks about various mental health issues at schools and colleges.  I also run a weekly mindfulness based stress reduction group.   My main areas of expertise are eating disorders, self-harm, stress, depression and anxiety.
